CRAWSHAY CUP
The Crawshay Cup Competition 2026
Presented by the Drama Association of Wales

The Crawshay Cup is a prestigious annual competition that champions creativity and celebrates original one-act plays written and performed by amateur theatre groups across Wales.

About the Award
The Cup is awarded each year to the author of an original one-act play that premieres in the first round of the National Festival of Community Theatre — commonly known as the regional one-act festivals held throughout Wales.
The winning writer will receive the Crawshay Cup during the Wales Final Festival of One-Act Plays.

How It’s Judged
The competition is administered by Teri McCarthy, Chair of the Drama Association of Wales.
An independent adjudicator will judge the submitted scripts — the award is based solely on the written script, not the stage performance.

To qualify, entries must meet the following criteria:

The play must be original and unpublished prior to its performance in a regional festival round.
-
It may be performed once locally before the festival, but not published.
