GDL One Act Festival - 2025
What a wonderful and varied evening of entertainment we had at the Savoy Theatre for the Glamorgan Drama League One-Act Festival. We had four groups enter this year: our old friends Players’ Theatre performing “Retribution or Madness” - an original piece written by Gabe Torrens; Players Anonymous performing “The Undiscovered Country” - another original script written by Gordon Thomas; and Telstars performing our third original script “Di Fawkes” written and directed by Paul C. Robinson. We were delighted to welcome back Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society (PODS) after an absence of over thirty years who performed “A Husband for Breakfast” by Ronald Elwy Mitchell.

Our thanks go to our Adjudicator, David Price GDA who gave us a highly entertaining but thorough and constructive adjudication of all four plays.

Huge thanks must go to all of the of One-Act Festival Team that worked so hard behind the scenes to put this together, Teri McCarthy, Annette Littlechild, John & Wendy Stowe, Fiona Porter-Smith, Sybil Fowler and finally to Dan and Haley of The Savoy Theatre for all of their help and support.

Good luck now to The Players’ Theatre, PODS and Players Anonymous who have been chosen to go forward to the Welsh Finals on the 20/21 June at Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff, hope to see you all there. https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/glamorgandrama/e-qydppp
