What are The Glammies.png
A,Replace Cup at Top.jpg

THE GLAMMIES is a plays and musicals competition, launched in 1999 in the hope that societies would support each other. It was also an opportunity to have an objective observer give constructive feedback to productions.

Appraisers review and score each production and a report is sent to each group. The Glammies year runs from January to December each year.

After the close of the year, scores are counted and award nominations are announced.

We hold a Gala event to present the winners with their awards.

Who can enter.png

THE GLAMMIES is only open to GDL groups in South Wales. Members must perform in the GDL catchment area (see map). Each group may enter up to 3 plays and 3 musicals each year.

When a group enters the Glammies, GDL will send 3 appraisers and

also the relevant moderator to see the production. Each of the 4 people may bring a guest. Following the performance, each of the appraisers will write a full review, and mark the production according to the mark scheme for plays or the mark scheme for musicals. The marking guides are based upon GoDA (Guild of Drama Adjudicators) mark schemes. Productions are scored on presentation (set, props, costumes, lighting), direction, musical direction & choreography (where appropriate), acting, and overall dramatic achievement. As well as submitting their scores, the appraisers make nominations within the acting categories.
